This three-day course provides an in-depth overview of modern vaccinology, covering key scientific, technological, and regulatory aspects of vaccine development. Participants will explore the immunological mechanisms behind protective immunity, the design and production of traditional and next-generation vaccines, and the process from preclinical studies to regulatory approval and GMP manufacturing.
The course addresses the unique challenges in developing vaccines against viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections, and includes lectures on travel vaccines, cancer prevention through vaccination, and oral vaccines. Broader themes such as vaccine effectiveness, herd immunity, and public perception are also integrated – including how society responds to vaccination campaigns. This course provides a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in vaccinology and to engage in scientific exchange through lectures, discussions, and poster sessions.
Participants will also have the opportunity to
- discuss their research with colleagues
- build their national and international scientific network
- discuss at the end of the lectures with experts working within vaccine development
