ACHIEVEConnect: Science Networking Workshop 2027
A workshop by ACHIEVE for early-career scientists
You’ve mastered the pipette and the literature review. Nobody taught you how to walk up to a stranger at a conference and start talking science.
ACHIEVEConnect helps you get comfortable approaching other scientists. No dry lectures: in hands-on exercises and conversations, you’ll meet other early-career researchers, work on how you introduce your science, and talk about career paths with scientists from academia and industry. Afterwards, you can try it all out at the GfV Spring Meeting 2027.
What you’ll take home
- Ways to find researchers with the expertise you’re looking for, and to start a conversation with them.
- A 30-second pitch about yourself and your science that makes people remember you (in a good way).
- Contacts with peers who share your interests, and a chance to talk about working together.
- A closer look at career paths in academia and industry.
Selected participants receive a scholarship covering
- Free participation in the ACHIEVEConnect workshop.
- Registration for the GfV Spring Meeting 2027 (social events not included).
- An free overnight stay at Jugendherberge Frankfurt from Sunday, 28 February, to Monday, 1 March.
Dates and eligibility
The workshop runs from Sunday evening, 28 February, to Monday morning, 1 March 2027, with additional networking activities during the GfV Spring Meeting on 1-4 March 2027.
The workshop is targeted towards early career PhD students with an interest in virology and the life sciences. All NDP-VIP members are eligible to apply. If the number of applications exceeds the available places, priority will be given to PhD students.. Selected participants must attend the full GfV Spring Meeting.

Registration
In collaboration with jGfV, up to five scholarships will be offered to NDP-VIP members to support participation, including registration, accommodation, and meals. In addition, NDP-VIP will provide travel support for a round trip from your home university to Frankfurt.
All applicants will be notified if they are selected to participate or not on 1 December 2026.
